We solve problems - and share the solution, so others don't have to solve them twice.
In our day-to-day work we run into obstacles that have no good, free solution. Instead of just working around them for ourselves, we turn them into a tool and release it openly. That way the solution helps not only us, but everyone facing the same problem.
That is our idea of open source: once you have solved a problem, you should share the solution. Open code can be reviewed, adapted and reused - with no license fees and no dependence on a single vendor.
It all started with our first project, pst-to-mbox. It grew out of a concrete annoyance: getting email out of an Outlook PST file should be easy - but it isn’t. pst-to-mbox lifts the messages out of PST files and moves them into Thunderbird (mbox) or via IMAP. Free, and without Microsoft lock-in.
It won’t be the last tool - more will follow as soon as we have solved the next problem in the open. You’ll find all our projects on Codeberg .
